May 10th, 2026 – Sixth Sunday of Easter, Year A
ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
‘Have I been with you so long,
and yet you do not know me?’ says the Lord.
‘Philip, he who has seen me has seen the Father.
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?’
Alleluia, alleluia.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit
be with you all.
And with your spirit.
Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
[All strike their breast]
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
GLORIA
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world,
receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father,
have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.
COLLECT
Let us pray.
Be to us, O God, the master of our souls. Guide us in the ways of your righteousness. As you give us the desire to live a life of increasing perfection, keep ever alive in us the graces of the Paschal Mystery. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
FIRST READING
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 4:8-14)
In those days. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers of the people and elders, if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a cripple, by what means this man has been healed, be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man is standing before you well. This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, but which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they wondered; and they recognised that they had been with Jesus. But seeing the man that had been healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
PSALM
Psalm 117 (118)
R. The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
OR: R: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
The Lord has chastened me sorely,
but he has not given me over to death.
Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to the Lord. R.
I thank you that you have answered me
and have become my salvation.
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvellous in our sight. R.
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you,
you are my God, and I will extol you.
O give thanks to the Lord for he is good;
for his mercy endures forever. R.
EPISTLE
A reading from the First Letter of St Paul to the Corinthians (1Cor 2:12-16)
My brothers, we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spiritwhich is frp, God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. ‘For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Alleluia
Lord, open to us the Scriptures;
our hearts burn within us
while you talk with us.
Alleluia
GOSPEL
The Lord be with you
And with your spirit.
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St John (Jn 14:25-29)
Glory to you, O Lord.
In that time. The Lord Jesus said to his disciples: ‘These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, “I go away, and I will come to you.” If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe.’
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
AFTER THE GOSPEL
God, protect and sanctify your people.
Lord, we are divided – reunite us!
Set free all who are slaves to your enemies,
that they may know that you are our God, alleluia.
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
Brothers and sisters, as we now make our prayer for our community and for the world, let us all pray to Christ the Lord, not only for ourselves and our own needs, but for the entire people.
Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
CONCLUSION OF THE LITURGY OF THE WORD
O God, who have permitted us to pass from iniquity to righteousness and from the wretchedness of sin to true joy, do not abandon the works of your grace, but to as many as you have called to holiness in the life of faith grant the strength to persevere. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
All-merciful Father, accept this bread,
so that it becomes the body of Christ, your Son.
Amen
All-merciful Father, accept this wine,
so that it becomes the blood of Christ, your Son.
Amen
PROFESSION OF FAITH
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified.
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS
Grant us, O Father, so to participate in these holy mysteries that, every time we celebrate the memory of the Death and Resurrection of your Son through these sacred offerings, the efficacy of the saving work of our redemption is renewed and restored. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
PREFACE
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right and just.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
Always and everywhere to declare your praise, O Father,
And with the liveliest exultation to give you thanks
In this season in which Christ, our Pasch, has given himself up to death.
Still he offers himself to you, and as our advocate intercedes for us;
Sacrificed on the cross he dies no more
But lives to eternity, marked by the signs of his Passion.
By this mystery, in the joy of the Resurrection,
All mankind exults throughout the world.
Together with the heavenly host and all the saints
We raise to you a hymn of unending joy:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Holy indeed and also blessed is our Lord, Jesus Christ,
Your Son.
He who is God, infinite and eternal,
came down from heaven,
He humbled himself to take the form of a servant
and came to share the lot
of those who were lost.
Of His own free will he accepted suffering
to deliver from death mankind
whom He Himself created;
with boundless love
He left us, as a sacrifice to be offered to Your Name,
His own Body and Blood,
which by the power of the Holy Spirit,
are made present upon the altar.
On the day before His passion,
when he was to suffer for our salvation,
and that of our whole world,
while He was at table with His disciples,
He took bread in His holy and venerable hands,
and with eyes raised to heaven
to You, O God, His almighty Father,
giving You thanks, He said the blessing,
broke the bread
and gave it to His disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and eat of it,
for this is My Body,
which will be given up for you.
In a similar way,
when supper was ended,
He took this precious chalice
in His holy and venerable hands,
and with eyes raised to heaven
to You, His almighty Father,
and once more giving You thanks, he said the blessing
and gave the chalice to His disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and drink from it,
for this is the chalice of My Blood,
the Blood of the new and eternal covenant,
which will be poured out for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
He also gave them this command:
Every time you do this,
you shall do it in memory of me:
you shall proclaim my death,
you shall announce my Resurrection,
you shall await with trust my return,
until I come to you again from Heaven.
The Mystery of Faith.
You who have redeemed us by Your holy Cross,
and by Your Resurrection:
save us, O Saviour of the world.
The Mystery that we celebrate, O Lord,
we celebrate in obedience to the command of Christ.
Send into our midst, through this sacrifice,
Him who has instituted it,
that the presence of Your Son
in this most sublime sacrament
may bring our faith to its fullness.
And grant that we, who offer the true sacrifice,
may partake of the living and mysterious reality
of the Body and Blood of the Lord.
Be pleased, O God, to accept
this Paschal sacrifice:
united with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with Saint Joseph, her Spouse,
with Saint Ambrose, Saint Ferdinand,
and with all the Saints,
together with Leo our Pope
and Mario our Bishop,
we offer it to You with humble and grateful hearts,
for Your holy Church,
spread throughout the world
and gathered together by the power of the Holy Spirit,
in the love of her Redeemer.
We offer it to You also
for the priests consecrated to You,
for this Your people,
who have found mercy in You,
and for our brothers and sisters
who have gone before us
in the sure hope
of the coming of Your Kingdom.
Inscribe in the Book of Life
the names of all,
that You may find them again
in the communion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
With Him and with the Holy Spirit,
O God, almighty Father,
all honour, praise, glory,
majesty and power is Yours
now, always,
from age to age and forever and ever.
Amen.
THE COMMUNION RITE
BREAKING OF THE BREAD
I cried aloud to the Lord,
and from his holy mountain he heard my cry.
I shall not fear even a thousand enemies who assail me, alleluia.
At the Saviour’s command
and formed by divine teaching,
we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,
graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom,
the power and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Lord Jesus Christ,
who said to your Apostles:
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
look not on our sins,
but on the faith of Your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with your will.
Who live and reign for ever and ever.
Amen.
The peace and communion of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
And with your spirit.
Behold the Lamb of God,
behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.
AT HOLY COMMUNION
Let us love one another because God is love,
and he who loves his brothers
is born of God and knows God,
and in this the love of God is made manifest among us;
and he who does the will of God
abides forever, alleluia.
The Body of Christ.
Amen.
AFTER HOLY COMMUNION
Let us pray.
Grant us, O Lord, to draw life and strength from the table of your grace. Conform our hearts to your will and bend your ear to our every righteous desire. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.
May almighty God bless you,
the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen
Go in peace.
In the name of Christ.
