FIRST READING

A reading of the Acts ofthe Apostles (21:8b-14)

In those days, We wentto the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, and stayedwith him. He had four virgin daughters gifted with prophecy. We had been thereseveral days when a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. He came up tous, took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands with it, and said, «Thussays the holy Spirit: This is the way the Jews will bind the owner of this beltin Jerusalem, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles.» When we heard this,we and the local residents begged him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paulreplied, «What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? I am prepared notonly to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.»Since he would not be dissuaded we let the matter rest, saying, «The Lord’swill be done.»

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

EPISTLE

The letter of saint Paul to the Philippians(1:8-14)

Brothers: God is mywitness, how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And thisis my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge andevery kind of perception, to discern what is of value, so that you may be pureand blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousnessthat comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God. I want you toknow, brothers, that my situation has turned out rather to advance the gospel,so that my imprisonment has become well known in Christ throughout the wholepraetorium and to all the rest, and so that the majority of the brothers, having taken encouragement in the Lord from my imprisonment, dare more thanever to proclaim the word fearlessly.

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

Hallelujah

I am the good shepherd, says the Lord, and I know mine

and mine know me.

Hallelujah

GOSPEL

The Lord be with you

And also with you

A reading of the holygospel according to John (15:9-17)

Glory to you, Lord.

In that time, The Lord Jesus said to thedisciples: «As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. Ifyou keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept myFather’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that myjoy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: loveone another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’slife for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I nolonger call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing.I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard frommy Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed youto go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father inmy name he may give you. This I command you: love one another.»

The word of the Lord.

Praise to you, LordJesus Christ.

AFTER THE GOSPEL

Give me your ear,Lord, and hear me. Save your servant, O God, who trusts in You. Have mercy onme because I always call upon you, hallelujah.

so that they may becomefor us

At the time he wasbetrayed

And entered willinglyinto his Passion,

he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and eat of it,

Forthis is my Body,

Whichwill be given up for you.

In a similar way, whensupper was ended,

he took the chalice

and, once more givingthanks,

he gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and drink from it,

forthis is the chalice of my Blood,

theBlood of the new and eternal covenant,

Whichwill be poured out for you and for many

forthe forgiveness of sins.

Dothis in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death,O Lord,

and profess yourResurrection

until you come again.

Therefore, as wecelebrate

the memorial of hisDeath and Resurrection,

we offer you, Lord,

the Bread of life andthe Chalice of salvation,

giving thanks that you haveheld us worthy

to be in your presenceand minister to you.

Humbly we pray

that, partaking of theBody and Blood of Christ,

we may be gathered intoone by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, yourChurch,

and bring her to thefullness of charity,

together with Francisour Pope

and Mario our Bishop,

and all the clergy.

Remember also ourbrothers and sisters

who have fallen asleepin the hope of the resurrection,

and all who have died inyour mercy:

welcome them into the lightof your face.
