May 1st, 2022– Third Sunday of Easter

The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord, hallelujah; Hisword created the universe, hallelujah.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of theHoly Spirit.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God,

and the communion of the Holy Spirit

be with you all.

And with your spirit.

Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledgeour sins,

and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacredmysteries.

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned,

in my thoughts and in my words,

in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

[All strike their breast]

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters,

to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins,

and bring us to everlasting life.

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his peopleon earth.

Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, weworship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God,Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us; you areseated at the right hand of the Father, receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are theLord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in theglory of God the Father. Amen.

Letus pray.

Godof mercy, light and comfort for those who believe in you, increasingly rekindlein your Church the desires that you have awakened in our hearts and, byrevealing the sublimity of your promises, you make our hope more certain; thusyour children will be able to wait with trusting patience for the still hiddendestiny of glory, which has already been contemplated without a shadow of adoubt by the eyes of faith. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who livesand reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever andever.

A reading of the Acts ofthe Apostles (28:16-28)

In those days, When heentered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with the soldier who wasguarding him. Three days later he called together the leaders of the Jews. Whenthey had gathered he said to them, «My brothers, although I had done nothingagainst our people or our ancestral customs, I was handed over to the Romans asa prisoner from Jerusalem. After trying my case the Romans wanted to releaseme, because they found nothing against me deserving the death penalty. But whenthe Jews objected, I was obliged to appeal to Caesar, even though I had no accusationto make against my own nation. This is the reason, then, I have requested tosee you and to speak with you, for it is on account of the hope of Israel thatI wear these chains.» They answered him, «We have received no letters fromJudea about you, nor has any of the brothers arrived with a damaging report orrumor about you. But we should like to hear you present your views, for we knowthat this sect is denounced everywhere.» So they arranged a day with him andcame to his lodgings in great numbers. From early morning until evening, heexpounded his position to them, bearing witness to the kingdom of God andtrying to convince them about Jesus from the law of Moses and the prophets. Some were convinced by what he had said, while others did not believe. Withoutreaching any agreement among themselves they began to leave; then Paul made onefinal statement. «Well did the holy Spirit speak to your ancestors through theprophet Isaiah, saying: 'Go to this people and say: "You shall indeed hearbut not understand. You shall indeed look but never see. Gross is the heart ofthis people; they will not hear with their ears; they have closed their eyes,so they may not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understandwith their heart and be converted, and I heal them.'" Let it be known toyou that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they willlisten.»

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

The letter of saint Paul to the Romans (1:1-16b)

Paul, a slave of ChristJesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God, which hepromised previously through his prophets in the holy scriptures, the gospelabout his Son, descended from David ac- cording to the flesh, but establishedas Son of God in power according to the spirit of holiness through resurrectionfrom the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him we have received the grace ofapostleship, to bring about the obedience of faith, for the sake of his name, among all the Gentiles, among whom are you also, who are called to belong toJesus Christ; to all the beloved of God in Rome, called to be holy. Grace toyou and peace from God our Father and the Lord Je- sus Christ. First, I givethanks to my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith isheralded throughout the world. God is my witness, whom I serve with my spiritin proclaiming the gospel of his Son, that I remember you constantly, alwaysasking in my prayers that somehow by God’s will I may at last find my way clearto come to you. For I long to see you, that I may share with you some spiritualgift so that you may be strengthened, that is, that you and I may be mutuallyencouraged by one another’s faith, yours and mine. I do not want you to beunaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, though I was preventeduntil now, that I might harvest some fruit among you, too, as among the rest ofthe Gentiles. To Greeks and non-Greeks alike, to the wise and the ignorant, Iam under obligation; that is why I am eager to preach the gospel also to you inRome. For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for thesalvation of everyone who believes.

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

Whoever loves me willkeep my word,

says the Lord,

and my Father will lovehim,

and we will come to him.

The Lord be with you

And also with you

A reading of the holygospel according to John (8:12-19)

Glory to you, Lord.

In that time, The Lord Jesus spoke to scribesand Pharisees, saying: «I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me willnot walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.» So the Pharisees saidto him, «You testify on your own behalf, so your testimony cannot be verified.»Jesus answered and said to them, «Even if I do testify on my own behalf, mytestimony can be verified, because I know where I came from and where I amgoing. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge byappearances, but I do not judge anyone. And even if I should judge, my judgmentis valid, because I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me. Evenin your law it is written that the testimony of two men can be verified. Itestify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me.» So they said to him,«Where is your father?» Jesus answered, «You know neither me nor my Father. Ifyou knew me, you would know my Father also.»

The word of the Lord.

Praise to you, LordJesus Christ.

We, your people and flock that you feed, will always entrustourselves only to you, we will sing your praises forever, hallelujah.

Dear brothers and sisters, filled withpaschal joy,

let us pray more earnestly to God thathe, who graciously listened

to the prayers and supplications ofhis beloved Son,

may now be pleased to look upon us inour lowliness.

Let us pray the Lord: Hear us,Jesus

for through yourgoodness we have received

the bread we offer you:

fruit of the earth andwork of human hands,

it will become for usthe bread of life.

Blessed be God forever.

Blessed are you, LordGod of all creation,

for through yourgoodness we have received

this wine we offer you:

fruit of the vine and work of human hands,

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven andearth,

of all things visibleand invisible.

I believe in one LordJesus Christ,

the Only begotten Son ofGod,

born of the Fatherbefore all ages.

God from God, Light fromLight,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,consubstantial with the Father;

through him all thingswere made.

For us men and for oursalvation

he came down fromheaven,

and by the Holy Spiritwas incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake he wascrucified under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death andwas buried,

and rose again on thethird day

in accordance with theScriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at theright hand of the Father.

He will come again inglory

to judge the living andthe dead

and his kingdom willhave no end.

We believe in the HolySpirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from theFather and the Son,

with the Father and theSon is adored and glorified.

who has spoken throughthe prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptismfor the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward tothe resurrection of the dead

and the life of theworld to come. Amen.

Itis truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,

Always, here and everywhere to give you thanks,

Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.

Youare the maker of all things,

Youhave decreed the changing of times and seasons;

Toman and woman, formed in wisdom as your likeness,

Youhave given the care of this wonderful creation

Andall that lives within its bounds.

Thoughwe are creatures of earth,

Yougive the life of heaven in the new birth of baptism.

Foryou have conquered the power of death

Andbestowed on us the gift of immortality,

Andwhen we had lost our way through sinfulness

Youhave brought us back to the path of truth.

Thereforewith angels and saints

wesing the unceasing hymn of your glory:

Heaven and earth arefull of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comesin the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

You are indeed Holy, OLord,

The fount of allholiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,

by sending down yourSpirit upon them like the dewfall,

so that they may becomefor us

the Body and Blood ofour Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he wasbetrayed

And entered willinglyinto his Passion,

he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and eat of it,

Forthis is my Body,

Whichwill be given up for you.

In a similar way, whensupper was ended,

he took the chalice

and, once more givingthanks,

he gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and drink from it,

forthis is the chalice of my Blood,

theBlood of the new and eternal covenant,

Whichwill be poured out for you and for many

forthe forgiveness of sins.

Dothis in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death,O Lord,

and profess yourResurrection

until you come again.

Therefore, as wecelebrate

the memorial of hisDeath and Resurrection,

we offer you, Lord,

the Bread of life andthe Chalice of salvation,

giving thanks that youhave held us worthy

to be in your presenceand minister to you.

Humbly we pray

that, partaking of theBody and Blood of Christ,

we may be gathered intoone by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, yourChurch,

spread throughout the world,

and bring her to thefullness of charity,

together with Francisour Pope

and Mario our Bishop,

and all the clergy.

Remember also ourbrothers and sisters

who have fallen asleepin the hope of the resurrection,

and all who have died inyour mercy:

welcome them into thelight of your face.

Have mercy on us all, wepray,

that with the BlessedVirgin Mary, Mother of God,

with blessed Joseph, herSpouse

with the blessedApostles,

and all the Saints whohave pleased you throughout the ages,

we may merit to becoheirs to eternal life,

and may praise andglorify you

through your Son, JesusChrist.

Through him, and with him,and in him,

O God, almighty Father,

In the unity of the HolySpirit,

all glory and honor isyours,

For ever and ever

Father, while I was with them, I protected them by Your name, andnow I am coming to you. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, butto keep them safe from the evil one - says the Lord - hallelujah.

As the Savior’s command

and formed by divine teaching,

we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, Lord, wepray, from every evil,

graciously grant peacein our days,

that, by the help ofyour mercy,

we may be always freefrom sin

and safe from alldistress,

as we await the blessedhope

and the coming of ourSaviour, Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom,

the power and the gloryare yours

now and for ever.

Lord Jesus Christ,

who said to yourApostles:

Peace I leave you, mypeace I give you,

look not on our sins,

but on the faith of YourChurch,

and graciously grant herpeace and unity

in accordance with yourwill.

Who live and reign forever and ever.

The peace and communionof our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

And with your spirit.

Behold the Lamb of God,

behold him who takesaway the sins of the world.

Blessed are those calledto the supper of the Lamb.

Lord, I am not worthy

that you should enterunder my roof,

but only say the word

and my soul shall behealed.

The body of Christ

Let us pray.

Strongand merciful God, may the grace that has been given to us be the principle ofeternal life in us, and may the gift received at your table become the sourceand certainty of endless joy. Through Christ our Lord.
