ENTRANCE CHANT

When the Lordwas baptized, the heavens opened up and the Spirit landed on him in the form ofa dove, and the voice of the Father proclaimed: “This is my dearly loved Son,who brings me great joy.”

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of theHoly Spirit.

Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God,

and the communion of the Holy Spirit

be with you all.

And with your spirit.

Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledgeour sins,

and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacredmysteries.

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned,

in my thoughts and in my words,

in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

[All strike their breast]

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters,

to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins,

and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you,

we bless you,

we adore you,

we glorify you,

we give you thanks for your great glory,

Lord God, heavenly King,

O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son,

Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us;

you take away the sins of the world,

receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father,

have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,

you alone are the Lord,

you alone are the Most High,

Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit,

in the glory of God the Father.

Amen.

EPISTLE

The letter of saint Paulto the Ephesians (2:13-22)

Brothers: In ChristJesus you who once were far off have become near by the blood of Christ. For heis our peace, he who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity, through his flesh, abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims, that he might create in himself one new person in place of the two, thusestablishing peace, and might reconcile both with God, in one body, through thecross, putting that enmity to death by it. He came and preached peace to youwho were far off and peace to those who were near, for through him we both haveaccess in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers andsojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of thehousehold of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, withChrist Jesus himself as the capstone. Through him the whole structure is heldtogether and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord; in him you also are beingbuilt together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

Hallelujah

The heavens were opened,

and the voice of theFather said:

«This is my beloved Son.Listen to him.»

Hallelujah

GOSPEL

The Lord be with you

And also with you

A reading of the holygospel according to Luke (3:15-16.21-22)

Glory to you, Lord.

In that time, Now thepeople were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their heartswhether John might be the Messiah. John answered them all, saying, «I ambaptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy toloosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit andfire.» After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptizedand was praying, heaven was opened and the holy Spirit descended upon him inbodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, «You are my beloved Son;with you I am well pleased.»

The word of the Lord.

Praise to you, LordJesus Christ.

Your voice resoundedfrom the opened heavens

To bring faith that yourWord was now dwelling amongst us.

Your Spirit descended inthe likeness of a dove

To announce that Christyour servant

Was anointed with theoil of gladness

And sent to proclaim thegood news to the poor.

And so, with angels andarchangels

And with all the powersof heaven,

We glorify your holyname

You are indeed Holy, OLord,

The fount of allholiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,

by sending down yourSpirit upon them like the dewfall,

so that they may becomefor us

the Body and Blood ofour Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he wasbetrayed

And entered willinglyinto his Passion,

he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and eat of it,

Forthis is my Body,

Whichwill be given up for you.

In a similar way, whensupper was ended,

he took the chalice

and, once more givingthanks,

he gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and drink from it,

forthis is the chalice of my Blood,

theBlood of the new and eternal covenant,

Whichwill be poured out for you and for many

forthe forgiveness of sins.

Dothis in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death,O Lord,

and profess yourResurrection

until you come again.

Therefore, as wecelebrate

the memorial of hisDeath and Resurrection,

we offer you, Lord,

the Bread of life andthe Chalice of salvation,

giving thanks that youhave held us worthy

to be in your presenceand minister to you.

Humbly we pray

that, partaking of theBody and Blood of Christ,

we may be gathered intoone by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, yourChurch,

spread throughout theworld,

and bring her to thefullness of charity,

together with Francisour Pope

and Mario our Bishop,

and all the clergy.

Remember also ourbrothers and sisters

who have fallen asleepin the hope of the resurrection,

and all who have died inyour mercy:

welcome them into thelight of your face.

Have mercy on us all, wepray,

that with the BlessedVirgin Mary, Mother of God,
