ENTRANCE CHANT

Elizabeth saidto Mary: “Why did you come to me, Mother of my Lord? If I had known, I wouldhave come out to meet you. You carry the King of the universe in your womb, Ionly a prophet; you are the one who enforces the law, I am the one who obeysit; you are the Word that saves, I am the voice that proclaims its coming.”

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of theHoly Spirit.

Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God,

and the communion of the Holy Spirit

be with you all.

And with your spirit.

Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledgeour sins,

and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacredmysteries.

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned,

in my thoughts and in my words,

in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

[All strike their breast]

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters,

to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins,

and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

O God, who through the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary bestowed onthe human race the grace of eternal salvation, grant, we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whom wewere found worthy to receive the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ, yourSon. FIRST READING

A reading of the prophetIsaiah (62:10-63:3b)

In those days, Isaiahsaid: «Pass through, pass through the gates, prepare a way for the people;build up, build up the highway, clear it of stones, raise up a standard overthe nations». The Lord has proclaimed to the ends of the earth: «Say todaughter Zion, 'See, your savior comes! See, his reward is with him, hisrecompense before him.' They shall be called 'The Holy People,' 'The Redeemed ofthe Lord.' And you shall be called 'Cared For,' 'A City Not Forsaken.' 'Who isthis that comes from Edom, in crimsoned garments, from Bozrah? Who is this, glorious in his apparel, striding in the greatness of his strength?' 'It is I,I who announce vindication, mighty to save.' 'Why is your apparel red, and yourgarments like one who treads the wine press?' 'The wine press I have trodden alone, and from the peoples no one was with me.'

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

The letter of saint Paulto the Philippians (4:4-9)

Brothers: Rejoice in theLord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known toall. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer andpetition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace ofGod that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in ChristJesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever isjust, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there isany excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about thesethings. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen inme. Then the God of peace will be with you.

The Word of God.

Thanks be to God.

Hallelujah

Behold, I am thehandmaid of the Lord.

May it be done to meaccording to your word.

Hallelujah

GOSPEL

The Lord be with you

And also with you

A reading of the holygospel according to Luke (1:26-38a)

Glory to you, Lord.

In that time, The angelGabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virginbetrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s namewas Mary. And coming to her, he said, «Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you».But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort ofgreeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, «Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb andbear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be calledSon of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David hisfather, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdomthere will be no end.» But Mary said to the angel, «How can this be, since Ihave no relations with a man? ». And the angel said to her in reply, «The holySpirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold,Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this isthe sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossiblefor God». Mary said, «Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done tome according to your word».

The word of the Lord.

Praise to you, LordJesus Christ.

To celebrate this feastof blessed Mary Ever-Virgin.

Her womb enclosed, inlittle space,

The great Creator of theheavens,

And as the Angel hadforetold,

She gave birth to theworld’s Redeemer,

The Word now clothed inhuman flesh,

The Saviour, conceivedand born of her body,

Leaving untouched herchaste virginity.

And so, with angels andarchangels

And with all the powersof heaven,

We glorify your holyname

In this, their agelesshymn of praise:

Holy, holy, holy, LordGod of hosts.

You are indeed Holy, OLord,

The fount of all holiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,

by sending down yourSpirit upon them like the dewfall,

so that they may becomefor us

the Body and Blood ofour Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he wasbetrayed

And entered willinglyinto his Passion,

he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and eat of it,

Forthis is my Body,

Whichwill be given up for you.

In a similar way, whensupper was ended,

he took the chalice

and, once more givingthanks,

he gave it to hisdisciples, saying:

Takethis, all of you, and drink from it,

forthis is the chalice of my Blood,

theBlood of the new and eternal covenant,

Whichwill be poured out for you and for many

forthe forgiveness of sins.

Dothis in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death,O Lord,

and profess yourResurrection

until you come again.

Therefore, as wecelebrate

the memorial of hisDeath and Resurrection,

we offer you, Lord,

the Bread of life andthe Chalice of salvation,

giving thanks that youhave held us worthy

to be in your presenceand minister to you.

Humbly we pray

that, partaking of theBody and Blood of Christ,

we may be gathered intoone by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, yourChurch,

spread throughout theworld,

and bring her to thefullness of charity,

together with Francisour Pope

and Mario our Bishop,

and all the clergy.

Remember also our brothersand sisters

who have fallen asleepin the hope of the resurrection,

and all who have died inyour mercy:

welcome them into thelight of your face.

Have mercy on us all, wepray,

that with the BlessedVirgin Mary, Mother of God,

with blessed Joseph, herSpouse

with the blessedApostles,

and all the Saints whohave pleased you throughout the ages,

we may merit to becoheirs to eternal life,

and may praise andglorify you

through your Son, JesusChrist.

Through him, and with him,and in him,

O God, almighty Father,

In the unity of the HolySpirit,
